Dancing, by its very nature is a mindful activity. You are engaged in the activity in the here and now – and it is difficult to have thoughts about the past or future as you engage in the dance movement.
Just Jhoom! with its hand and arm movements, Bollywood and Bhangra footwork and hand and eye co-ordination is a really good example of Mindful Movement.
“Yato hasta, stato drishti
Yato drishti, stato manaha
Yato manaha, stato bhava
Yato bhava, stato rasa”
Where the hand goes, the eyes follow
Where the eyes go, the mind follows
Where the mind goes, the heart follows
Where the heart goes there is sentiment/true consciousness
